About the Hunter TAFE Student Association

Hunter Institute of Technology Student Association logoThe Hunter Institute of Technology Association Inc was incorporated on 24 November 1992 under the Asociations Incorporation Act, 1984. It was perviously known as the Newcastle Technical College Union, which was established in January 1966. The Association has had a close relationship with TAFE NSW Newcastle campus and has expanded its bookshops to Glendale, Wyong and Maitland.

Some of the benefits provided to students have included:-

  • Providing seating and shelters in cooperation with the local campus
  • Providing funding for campus BBQ's
  • Organizing Orientation week at Newcastle Campus
  • Providing Snacks and Drinks at highly competitive prices
  • Supporting weekly music events at Newcastle campus
  • Discounts at HIT Student Association run bookshops
  • Free Drinks & BBQ for all students at the start of the year
  • Other giveaways throughout the year
  • Sponsorship of the Hunter TAFE Start-up Scholarships
  • Foxtel in the Newcastle Campus canteen area

The Association is a Not For Profit association and uses the income it generates from its bookshops to fund various student services or campus improvements.
